Hillary plans to let Bill Clinton loose in the early voting states next month. Waiting for him is Republican front-runner Donald Trump.

The former president has kept a low-profile since Hillary launched her campaign in April, offering private advice and helping her raise money at closed-door fundraisers. Next month Hillary’s campaign intends to showcase Bill in public forums in New Hampshire and Iowa, states where the Democrat front-runner is locked in a tight race against Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

During a speech recently, Hillary called Bill her “secret weapon”.

Bill Clinton entering the public scene could further escalate the rhetoric between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. In Hillary’s 2008 presidential campaign, Bill would often bristle at criticism aimed at Hillary and caused a backlash of criticism when he suggested Obama’s win the South Carolina primary was less significant because of the state’s large African-American vote.

Last week Hillary and Trump took swipes at each other after Donald Trump called Clinton’s restroom break during the Democrat debate “disgusting”.

During an interview with the Des Moines Register, Hillary said Trump “demonstrated a penchant for sexism”. Trump returned fire on Twitter warning her to “be careful” when complaining about a penchant sexism.

During an interview on CNN, Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson suggested Trump plans to make Bill Clinton’s behavior an issue if Hillary pursues this point. While serving as president, Bill paid $850,000 to settle a sexual harassment case brought by Paula Jones. The U.S. House of Representatives later impeached Bill after having an affair with Monica Lewinsky, an intern at the White House.

“Hillary has some nerve to talk about the war on women and bigotry toward woman”, Katrina Pierson told CNN. “When she has a serious problem in her husband,” she continued.

Hillary’s campaign declined to comment.

According to a person close to Hillary, Bill isn’t troubled by the Trump’s comments and is not taking them personally.
